Central Distribution

In the Office of Logistics Management (OLM), Central Distribution is tasked with distributing packages to all UCH buildings, including offsite locations. Route schedules have been developed to maximize efficiency. Packages are scheduled for delivery based upon delivery service level (express and priority vs ground) and also based on contents (perishable vs non perishable.) Express, priority, and perishable packages are delivered in the afternoon the same day as they are received. Ground and non perishable packages may be delivered same day, based on volume of packages received but generally are scheduled for delivery the following morning after they are received. Delivery is completed via scanner in order to complete the delivery in OLM Package Tracking System (PTS) and to maintain chain of custody.

It is the ordering department's responsibility to know when their package is due to arrive and to ensure someone is in their area to sign for and accept delivery. If nobody will be available to sign for and accept delivery please contact the OLM help desk to arrange for delivery. OLM will not be responsible for any losses/damages resulting from undeliverable packages.

The couriers also deliver specimens to Lab Med, Anatomic Pathology, and Dermpath from outlying JDH and UMG areas. Requests for courier services can be placed with the courier service at x7951.
