Medical-Surgical Products Boston Scientific Vascular Access Devices -- PICCs, Midlines and Tunneled CVCs (MS70033) Classes of Trade: All Novation has awarded an agreement to Boston Scientific for vascular access devices, effective Feb. 1. This is a dual-source agreement with C.R. Bard (MS70031). Product categories include peripherally inserted central catheters, midline catheters, and tunneled central venous catheters. Pricing is firm for the first three years of the agreement. A letter of participation is required. The contract summary is available on Marketplace@Novation. This agreement replaces former agreements MS00550 with CR Bard and MS00570 with HDC. As announced in the Dec. 1, 2006, issue of Hot Info, this increase had been scheduled for Feb. 1. As a reminder, this increase is attributed to the 145 percent increase in the cost of polypropylene resin since Jan. 1, 2003, and represents the first product price increase since the beginning of the agreement. Welch Allyn Propaq® and Micropaq™ Catalog Number Updates (CE50147) Classes of Trade: All With the ongoing transition of Welch Allyn's business system to software company SAP, it has become necessary to create ordering numbers that are SAP-compliant. As a result, effective April 1, Welch Allyn is replacing its catalog numbers for Propaq and Micropaq. Capital Equipment Invivo Patient Monitoring Agreement Termination Date Update (CE50144) Classes of Trade: All In November 2006, Philips Medical Systems acquired Invivo. As a result, agreement CE50144 with Invivo for patient monitoring will be terminated, effective April 25. Novation had previously published a different termination date. Orders on agreement CE50144 will be accepted through Feb. 28, with all deliveries made by June 30, and Philips will continue to support Invivo patient monitors (accessories, supplies and service support) through Dec. 31, 2010. Back to top > Orthopedic Program Synthes Contracted Trauma Products Do Not Violate Injunction (MS60122) Class of Trade: Acute Care Only Synthes has represented to Novation that no products currently sold by Synthes, through its Novation agreement or otherwise, violate a permanent injunction issued last fall against Synthes. Synthes has also indicated to Novation that devices listed in the injunction as infringing on the Smith and Nephew patent have not been sold by Synthes since late 2005. Additional information regarding compliance with the court order and member indemnification is provided via a Feb. 2 letter from Synthes, posted in the Orthopedics area of Marketplace@Novation®. The Oct. 27, 2006, injunction order was the result of a patent infringement claim filed by Smith & Nephew regarding the supplier's TFN devices.
