  • Smoking is prohibited in all state vehicles.  This action corresponds with the no smoking standard in all state facilities.

    All new vehicles are now being issued with "No Smoking" stickers.  As older vehicles are serviced, they will be issued stickers; but regardless of the presence of stickers, all vehicles are subject to the prohibition as of October 1, 2000.  Should you have any questions or concerns, you can contact us or the Department of Administrative Services at (860) 566-5940.

  • Motor Pool Vehicles are to be utilized only to conduct Official State Business.

  • A no-smoking policy is in effect while driving in a daily rental Motor Pool Passenger Vehicle

  • Please help keep the inside of our vehicles clean.   You may be charged extra for vehicles returned excessively dirty.

  • Always follow the rules and drive safely!!

GENERAL INFORMATION


The Motor Pool is a vital part of the Health Center Community. The Motor Pool maintains a fleet of passenger vehicles, vans and trucks, for lease to all Health Center departments and affiliated State Agencies. Vehicles are available for daily rental or monthly leases. The Motor Pool also runs a Special Event Bus/Transportation Program for all Health Center departments and affiliated State Agencies.

To lease a Motor Pool vehicle or schedule a Special Event bus, please call (860) 679-1963. Reservations should be made several days in advance for short term or daily rentals. A Vehicle Request Authorization Form must be completed to rent or lease any vehicle. Vehicle Request Authorization Forms are available through the Central Warehouse, Stock Number 50562.

 

The Motor Pool is open from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

ARTICLE VII. Overnight Parking of State-Owned Vehicles

  1. In general, all State vehicles will be parked at a State-Owned or Leased Facilities.

    • In general, Agency Heads or their designee may approve the garaging of a vehicle at the home of an employee for no more than five days in a month when it is deemed to be in the best interest of the State.

    • No vehicle shall be parked overnight on any street or highway except under emergency conditions.


ARTICLE IX. Usage of State Vehicles

  1. State Vehicles are to be utilized only to conduct Official State Business.

    • Personal use of a vehicle for social, recreational, religious, educational or any such purpose, whether on duty or off, is not permitted.

    • Vehicles may not be utilized to transport passengers, whether or not they are State employees, except such transportation necessary for the performance of official State business.

    • Vehicles may not be driven by anyone other than an employee of the State or by a volunteer worker approved by the agency head.

    • Individuals contractually employed by the State may not drive State vehicles unless permission is first obtained from the Director of State Fleet Operations.

    • Vehicles may not be loaned, leased or rented to any person, organization, or business or other governmental jurisdiction except when deemed necessary in a state of emergency or natural disaster. This use may be approved by the Commissioner of Administrative Services.
