The
University HealthSystem Consortium presented a plaque naming the Health
Center as one of its “Top 10” hospitals to Value Analysis Committee
co-chairs Wednesday, April 19. Art Mami, UHC, presented the plaque to
Jack Ferraro, Materials Management and James “Jim” Thornton, Finance.
The award, initially announced at the UHC conference in Dallas last
month, is based on specific materials management and purchasing
criteria, with weighted criteria ranking. UHC is a membership
organization and an alliance of academic health centers.
The Health Center joins some illustrious company receiving the award
this year. Other institutions included in part: Stanford Hospital and
Clinics, University of Virginia Health System, UCSF Medical Center,
Oregon Health and Science University, and University of Wisconsin
Hospitals and Clinics.
“This award is only given out to 10 hospitals and health centers from
a membership of more than 200,” said Mr. Mami. “The Health Center’s
Value Analysis group has been so helpful, accommodating and willing to
work to make this initiative a success, that their efforts made the
opportunity to achieve the award infinitely greater.”
